Sew Sporty Custom Order Guide

At Sew Sporty, we take great pride in producing custom rowing uniforms and apparel for some the most recognized and respected crews across the country and the world. We also take pride in our company commitment to offer the absolute best customer service, ensuring your ordering process will be free of hassle, stress, and confusion. We answer calls and respond to emails so you can focus on rowing.

Our Custom Uniform Process

To get started on your custom order, we invite you to

1) Explore and Choose Uniforms and Apparel

Visit our custom apparel section and review the types of uniforms and apparel we offer: everything from unisuits to sweatshirts and team jackets. Once you've decided on items that best suit your crew, click the Start Custom Order button to send us the details of your order.

2) Design Discussion and Review Mock-Ups

From there, a friendly Sew Sporty staff member will review the order and be in touch to review mock-ups of your design – if we have your art in-house – or discuss your design so we can create your mock-ups.

3) Approve Designs and Pay Deposit

After approval of your custom design and deposit, we will shift your order into production and provide you with a clear production and shipping schedule.

4) Production and Delivery

Once we have started production, orders generally take between four to eight weeks to produce. In a nutshell:

The Design Process

We do not offer an online design tool because we feel that too often, these online design tools limit the scope and creativity of the design process.  We prefer to have one of our experienced designers work with you to create a design that you will love. Want to see a design before you order? No problem, just drop a quick note.

Stock Colors vs. Custom Colors

We offer our Traditional Style A-Cut & Sew unisuits and Style B-Semi-Custom bottoms in 12 stock fabric colors as well as combinations of those colors. Many of our stock colors are also available for your team apparel to ensure your crew matches from head to toe. We also offer an infinite array of colors in our full custom sublimated products or by special request.

Full Custom vs. Semi-Custom

Although full custom design tends to be our most expensive option, it is also the most unique and expressive. With full custom design, we can dye-sublimate almost all our uniform pieces to your exact design requirements. Semi-custom, unisuits allow you to customize the top section but use our stock colors for the bottom. This is still a very high quality rowing uniform item, but less expensive than the full custom option. We invite you to check out our team pricing sheet and walk through your requirements with a Sew Sporty rep for guidance.

Sublimation, Embroidery & Screen Printing

Sublimation is a dye process that is integrated with the fabric and has no texture. We use this on most Dryflex and Poly uniform items. Screen printing is a durable and vibrant ink that sits on top of the fabric; we use this with most t-shirts, sweatshirts, and bag prints. Embroidery is generally reserved for smaller logos and personalized names on team jackets and gear. All of these decoration processes look great by themselves or together.

Planning Your Team Order & Sizing

Coordinating an entire team's worth of sizes and preferences can be daunting. We are here to help. We have assisted teams with thousands of orders and have experience and documents to guide you through the process. Just ask!

Setting Up a Team Store with Sew Sporty

Many teams order from Sew Sporty with a single PO from their school or club but other teams choose to use a team store. Our team stores allow your team to display the full uniform and apparel offering for your team, then have team members order individually. By ordering individually, Sew Sporty processes the payments  there is no upfront cost to your team and manages all of the details including sizes, shipping, and personalization. Turn-Around Times & Delivery

Generally team uniform orders take 4 to 6 weeks after art approval and deposit. During our busy seasons production can take longer. Please contact a Sew Sporty rep to talk about your deadlines and expectations. If we can help with a rush order, we will.

Perfect Customer Service

All of our uniform items are made to order by skilled craftswomen and craftsmen in our California production facility. Your customer service call or email will arrive and be attended to at this same facility where a Sew Sporty rep can look at and monitor your order.
